On our trip home from Wilson's Promontory we decided to call into Coal Creek to have a look at the relics from a time long ago. We found many things there that took us back to memories of our childhood and items in the general store that our mothers used or bought. We found our time there very interesting and stayed there much longer than we had planed.

The next group of photo's are from our second trip to Coal Creek, we didn't have enough time on our first visit to get around every thing, there is just so much to see. You need to allow at least half a day to do justice to your visit.

Wonthaggi State Coal Mine

A visit back home to Wonthaggi recently saw us call into the state coal mine to have a look as there is a family connection to the Wonthaggi coal mines. My husband has childhood memories of time spent at the mines with his father, as well as his father, three uncles and his grandfather also worked in the mines. We took a lot of photo's of the mine memorabilia, it seemed to me to be such a shame to see relics from the mine era rusting and decaying away.
